Kelly Erikson Maximum Thrust

Transmits rotary motion between two parallel or perpendicular lines, changing the characteristics of speed and / or direction of rotation.

This system consists of two wheels
solidarity with their axes, whose perimeters are in direct contact
. The movement is transmitted
of a wheel to another by friction (rubbing)

From the technical point of view we must consider at least 4 operators:

1.-axis driver, having the money we want to convey. Normally be attached to a motor. 2.-wheel driving
: solidarity with the driving, pick up the rotation of this which is transmitted by friction (rubbing) to the driven wheel
3.-driven gear: includes the rotation of the driving wheel by friction between them.
4.-Shaft driven: get the rotation of the driven wheel and transmits it to receiver.

From the technological point of view we must consider four elements:

D1: diameter of the driving wheel

D2: diameter of the driven wheel

N1:
drive shaft speed
N2:
driven shaft speed
They're bound by the following mathematical relationship:

equation that tells us we can:

1.-Increase the speed of rotation of the driven
(N1 be greater than the pipe (D1> D2). 2.-Make

both axles
bearing the same speed (N1 = N2)
by combining two wheels of equal diameter (D1 = D2).

3.-Decrease speed
driven shaft (N1> N2) using a driving wheel driven
less than (D1 < D2).

Due to the nature of the coupling between the wheels, the rotation of two consecutive axles contrary, being necessary to resort to an idler if we get both rotate in the same direction.

Because the only binding between the two wheels is the friction that occurs between their perimeters, can not be used for the transmission of large efforts. Often found in appliances audio and video as well as some amusement rides (Ferris wheels, swings ...) in which a tire triggers a taxiway.
